m-flo - Come Again (Selective Hearing SURF MUSIC Remix)
Selective Hearing remixes m-flo's 2001 single, Come Again.
m-flo is a Japanese Pop/R&B/Hip-Hop group that debuted in 1999. Those of you who regularly listen to Japanese music probably already know of them. But if you are a newcomer, there's a highly abbreviated biography.
To celebrate the upcoming 25th anniversary of their major label debut, they held a contest to remix one of their iconic songs, "Come Again."
This contest was held with SURF MUSIC, an all-in-one platform for musicians to collaborate on, package, pitch and sell their unreleased original music for opportunities across the global entertainment industry.
I submitted a track late into the contest's life cycle with a low bar of expectations. Past experiences in remix contests over the years have worn down my enthusiasm, and my primary reason for entering these things is to level up my composition skills. I never expect to place or win.
Surprisingly, my remix passed the first screening round and is now published on streaming music services. The three below are the most common ones folks use.
My remix builds upon familiar elements of the original track, surrounding the vocals with an uplifting club-style instrumental.
Since my very low bar has been exceeded, I'm happy with what has happened. Anything else after this is a bonus. Please take some time out of your day to listen to my remix. I don't mean to play it for a few seconds and then peace out. Give it one full play from beginning to end, so it at least registers as someone gave it a spin.
I'm not expecting everyone to like this interpretation. Music is very subjective, and everyone's tastes are different. But if you like the remix and know someone else who would genuinely be interested, feel free to share the links to the song with them.
